Privacy policy
Last updated November 2, 2026.
This policy covers knktr, a private macOS app made by Everyone Needs a Copilot ("we"). A few invited people use it. It is not sold or offered to the public.
The short version
Your data stays on your Mac. We run no server for knktr, and we never receive what you write, who you write to, or anything from your Google account.
What knktr keeps, and where
knktr keeps your notes on people, your drafts, your writing profile and a record of the messages you sent in a database on your Mac.
To keep your own Macs in step, knktr syncs that data through your private iCloud database, which Apple provides under your Apple Account. Everyone Needs a Copilot cannot read it.
Your Google account
When you connect a Google account, knktr asks for these permissions and uses each one only for the reason given:
- Your Google sign-in and email address (openid, email): to confirm which account you connected and that it matches the sender address in your writing profile.
- Send email on your behalf (gmail.send): to send the messages you approve, one at a time, exactly as you approved them. knktr sends nothing you did not approve.
- Your basic Gmail settings (gmail.settings.basic): to read your send-as address and signature, so the messages you send carry them.
knktr does not ask to read your inbox, and it does not read your email.
knktr keeps your Google sign-in tokens in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. It does not store your Google data on any server we run. We do not sell, share or transfer your Google data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models, and knktr does not include it in drafting requests.
Disconnecting Google
Disconnect in knktr revokes knktr's access to your Google account and deletes the tokens from your Mac. You can also remove knktr's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Drafting help
When you ask knktr to help draft a message, it sends that request to Claude, made by Anthropic, through your own Claude Code installation and your own Claude account. The request holds your notes on that person, your note on why you are writing, your writing profile and, for a follow-up or reply, the earlier messages in that conversation. Nothing else goes with it, and nothing goes to Claude unless you ask for help. Anthropic's privacy policy covers that request.
What we do not do
knktr has no analytics, no tracking and no ads. Everyone Needs a Copilot runs no server for knktr and receives none of your data.
Deleting your data
Your knktr data lives on your Mac and in your private iCloud database. We hold no copy, so deleting it there deletes it everywhere.
This website
This page, like the rest of ineedacopilot.com, uses Google Analytics to count visits. That covers the website only, not the knktr app.
Google API Services User Data Policy
knktr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions: email pablo@ineedacopilot.com.
